FAQs for booking flights from Denver to Rome

  • Can I fly directly from Denver to Rome?

Unfortunately, if you are looking for a nonstop flight from DEN to one of Rome’s airports (FCO or CIA), there are none available at this time. However, you will be glad to know that most journeys from Denver to Rome, regardless of the arrival airport, offer flights with only one layover.

  • What other cities besides Rome do Leonardo da Vinci Airport and Ciampino Airport serve?

FCO is located about 18 miles from Rome’s city center and is almost directly on Italy’s coastline. As a result, this airport is a good entry point if you want to travel to coastal cities like Santa Marinella or Latina. CIA, on the other hand, is closer to Rome’s city center and is more inland. This is a good entry point if you will be traveling to other inland cities such as Tivoli, Terni, or Perugia.

  • Can I exchange my US dollars for euros before I depart from Denver International Airport?

Yes, there are several currency exchange offices available at DEN if you want to change money before you travel. These World Wide Money Exchange locations can be found in the Center Core of the A gates, the Center Core of the B gates, and in the Jeppesen Terminal on level 5.

  • Can I reach the city center of Rome from Leonardo da Vinci Airport and/or Ciampino Airport via rideshare when I land?

Yes, you will find that rideshare apps operate from both FCO and CIA. At FCO, Share Now, Enjoy, and Drivalia E-Go! provide these services. You will meet your ride at the upper floor of the Short Stay parking lot at Terminal 1. At CIA, these services are provided only by Share Now and Enjoy. The pickup point is at the parking lot P5.

  • What are some common layovers on the journey from Denver to Rome?

The airline you choose to fly with and the destination airport will determine where you layover will occur. Most flights from Denver will land at FCO. For example, Swiss Airlines offers a 2-layover flight with stops in Chicago (ORD) and Zurich (ZRH). Lufthansa and United typically have a stop in Munich (MUC), while Delta Air Lines and Air France typically stop in Paris (CDG). Occasionally, Lufthansa will offer a flight with a layover at Washington Dulles (IAD). American Airlines will usually have a stop in Philadelphia (PHL).

  • What documents will I need in order to fly from Denver to Rome?

American citizens will need to bring a valid passport with them when flying from Denver to Rome. You do not need to obtain a visa before your flight for this trip unless you plan on staying for more than 90 days. You may be asked to show proof of your return ticket at the customs desk.

  • What airlines fly from Denver to Rome?

Some of the airlines you can book your flight with to Rome include Frontier Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, American Airlines, and United Airlines. There are no non-stop flights to Rome, and for one-stop flights, you could make a stop at either Dallas or Frankfurt.

  • What can you do to relax at Denver Airport as you wait for your flight?

You can relax, get a massage, manicure, or pedicure at the XpresSpa, or interact with the CATS therapy squad and pet dogs to your heart's content. For some quiet time, there's a chapel and an Islamic prayer hall, and if you need to get your fix, you can pay about $5 to smoke at the Smokin'Bear Lounge.

  • How do I reach Downtown Rome fast from both airports?

The fastest way from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport-Fiumicino (FCO) is via the Leonardo Express train or the local FL1 train outside Terminal 3. From Rome Ciampino Giovan Battista Pastine Airport (CIA), the buses are the preferred option. You have three options, SitBus outside Terminal 3, Terravision buses at stop Number 1 outside the arrivals area, and the Rome Airport Bus at stop Number 2 outside the terminal.

  • Which Rome airport should I fly into?

Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is the bigger of the two, so security lines will be longer and the crowds larger. Rome Ciampino (CIA) is closer to downtown Rome, and the trip is relatively cheaper, but you'll have fewer amenities. Still, Fiumicino has a better transport connection to the city and more amenities. While CIA has budget flights, you could layover in three cities instead of one at FCO.

  • What is the cheapest flight from Denver to Rome?

Not worth the premium paid for the first class ticket

We liked the fully reclinable seats. Had center seats, so it was difficult to talk to spouse. Crew was great

Fine. Though no food or entertainment so the survey needs to be updated with those options.

This was a flight operated by Lufthansa. See me prior comments, which were meant for this experience. The CSA, Ashley, should be reprimanded if not fired for incompetence, being rude, and very, very slow. She was whispering to other CSAs, blaming my flight change on others, unable to give me a seat assignment, telling me could not help without offering any advice (I travel 200,000 miles a year and am a consultant to the airlines, so I know how this gets done PRETTY DAMN WELL). Then, she gave me literally the worst seat on the airline (yes, there were other seats open) - the one right next to the bathroom that was so bad the other PAX next to me left to move to another seat. My seat kept getting rammed (3x) by the crew with their carts (no turbulence to speak of), other passengers grabbing the seat to get in or out of the bathroom, and listening to the bathroom flush all night.

Generally good but there wasn’t any staff available when my luggage didn’t appear at baggage claim in Fresno. It took about half an hour to locate a staff member to open up the locked room where it was being kept.

Flight delayed from Cape Town to Washington then got diverted to miami and in miami we had to fend for ourselves , im still trying to get to Shreveport now

I just wrote a text which was supposed to be for the flight from Denver to spokane not Frankfurt to Denver.

Good dinner and nice plane.Smootz flight. Breakfast had no sweet option. Seats hardly reclined.

Too many fees (but that seems to apply to all airlines nowadays)

Paid for premium economy had no tv the whole time the crew tried to reset/reboot but would not work they said they would put a trouble ticket in for it. We had 3 seats my tv was the only one that didn't work. They cancelled our flight re worked us on another that left us at airport over night on the floor I have a ten year old and a 78 diabetic mother which also had shingles and suffers from nerve pain in legs and back. Requested wheelchair service at all airports after the re route NO wheelchair service was there to help. WORST experience we have ever had. Went to American airlines assistance it was closed. I AM FURIOUS!!! I expect some sort of compensation from this traumatic experience and no need for flying points we don't plan on using American airlines again!!!!

This is by far the worst experience I have had with American Airlines. The start of this trip was a complete disaster. I purposely planned my trip so that I would weather any delays so that I could make very important meeting at the Pentagon. My flight was cancelled because of maintenance and I was put on the first flight the next day but I was late to the meeting. After a long week at the Pentagon I just wanted to go home and my flight home which was early in the day was delayed. Eventually the flight was delayed until the next day. I was not authorized a hotel room because DCA was my point of origin. So I paid for a hotel out of pocket. The flight this morning was boarded then deplaned because the aircraft was hot. The flow of information was not happening in DCA and made it worse when the news was bad. I am going to take a break from American for my next few military flights. Hopefully whatever has been going on with American Airlines will be resolved.

We had a 2 hour delay. The seats were smaller than most other airlines. The person in front of us wanted to lay back and we had to stop her because she was pressing against my girlfriend’s legs. We had to ask her to sit up and not lay back due to the lack of room.

Information when booking said the flight would be with American Airlines but the flight was actualy with British Airways. Check in from Orlando was nice and quick. I agreed to put my cabin case in the checked luggage as it was a full flight. Case came back damaged (unable to put the handle down) so will have to dispose of it. Seats were quite cramped with very little leg room, even for economy. This was the experience of both the outgoing and return flight. Cabin crew were ok and flight time was punctual.

Everything was fine once we actually got on our flight. It was more then annoying they canceled (delayed) our flight. We lost out on a day of our trip along with money on our stay. Plus we had to book another hotel. So expensive.

This flight was canceled and delayed several times without explanation. The plane was freezing cold and no wifi for messaging. Getting off the plane was terribly unorganized and felt like it took forever….

The flight was delayed several times without explanation. The seats were terribly uncomfortable and wifi isn’t included. All these make for a less than ideal flight.

The flights was delayed by hours and it was the firmest landing I have experienced in my life. My back is still sore.

Internet service was erratic. Crew service was poor and slow. My luggage on this non-stop flight was lost and not recovered

Terrible. I didn’t fly and I had an important meeting the next day.

The flight got us safely from point a to point b and on time. For a transatlantic flight that isnt nothing. Flight crew was kind and professional. The seats are super uncomfortable (worse than domestic budget airlines) and the cabin was DIRTY.

Great service on the plane and by ground staff. great prices. I was able to change seats on the plane. The allocated seats cannot be changed when checkin in online. They have to be done at the airport if you check in at the airport or on the plane by asking a stewardess / steward.

I fly to the USA every 6wks on Ave and 99% of the time I fly Aer Lingus. If I fly BA I’m always disappointed. My only criticism is the food. I’m vegan and over the last year it’s got slightly better these last couple of flights but on the whole it’s not good! Salad and fruit salad for breakfast and that’s also the starter and desert for the lunch/dinner and the main is usually rice with fried veg 😳the pasta is pretty good though. That’s been the last 2 meals…. Everything else is fantastic.

The flight was half full and I presume that the next few days are even less busy not sure why they are still charging a premium to change a flight.

Are Longus was fine. I booked thru Kayak and was unable to get my business class seat early. Sat next to galley. Crew forgot to wake me for breakfast.

I loved how they arrange boarding (starting with people seated in back and moving to the front). Flight crew was very polite and welcoming. Seating was ok, I felt like there was enough leg space however it is noticeable when the passenger in front of you sets their seat back.

Flight staff very friendly and helpful where possible. Late flight and travelling with young child, cabin lights remained on for the duration of the flight which was a little disappointing considering the time of the flight. Overall very happy to travel with Aer Lingus.

Nice to be on a flight that wasn't fully booked so there were only two of us in the three seat row.

The only problem was there are games on the entertaiment system. The guy behind me played poker the entire time and poking the back of my seat. I hope they remove these.

First the price I paid was excellent, my flight was full, but my seat was roomy. The one downside to the experience was they had games on the entertainment console. The guy behind me poked at my head about half the flight. I hope they get rid of this feature.

United delayed the flight to assist customers to make the connection. The Ohara customs area was overwhelm which created an issue for customers trying to make the Little Rock connection. The delayed allow several customers to make the final flight into Little Rock.

Missed our flight to London and we were put on coach seats to Munich.

Terrible. Missed our flight to Newark as well as our flight to London. Complete disaster

They canceled our flight last minute and we had to get another flight with twice the cost

Dinner was excellent - beef stew, the eggs for breakfast were only ok. It was soooo nice that there were so many options for movies and games.

Captain waited 45 minutes for late passengers boarding from Washington DC to Munich which was nice for them but caused our luggage to miss boarding our connection on to Bucharest. We then did not receive our luggage for about 48 hours after landing which was very inconvenient for our travel.

Poor, we had 1 hour to grab our checked luggage, go through customs, recheck bags and run across terminals to make our United flight. Poorly planned connections.

Check in in Albuquerque was awful. The people were great but they were over loaded. The procedures were terrible. We got through fine but it took 90+ minutes.

Will try to not fly with them again. Delays because of weather but got redirected to an airport where I could not make connection.

Staff didn’t care in business class. Closed the door on my mom while she was on the jetbridge and flight attendant told me she would make it from the connecting flight. They lied. My luggage was damaged on arrival. No success in filing damage claim.

During breakfast the fligh attendants missed one side of the plane for tea/coffee. I was on the other side and received tea. Unfortunately my husband and friends did not.

Economy class has no legroom so if you have the money worth to upgrade! Food was absolutely horrible! The crew was super nice!!!!!

The flight was provided by Aer Lingus and our seats were in a poor condition (15A & 15C). They looked like they needed repairing/replacing and were uncomfortable for such a long flight. Also the arm rests on Aer Lingus planes do not lift more than around 45 degrees, instead of the usual 90 degrees upright, meaning you cannot maximum the space between you & your travel companion so as to be more comfortable for such a long flight.

Flights were actually with Aer Lingus outward and American Airlines & Aer Lingus on the return journey. Outward flight with Aer Lingus was good but the return flight with them was not so good as our seats were in a poor condition (15A & 15C) and looked like they needed replacing! The American Airlines flight from Miami to JFK New York was good and the seats were very comfortable and spacious (32D & 32E)

Awful. Delay, lost vacation time and travel time now more than 24h

Awful. Flight delayed and we missed our long flight to Rome. It has been a nightmare and we have still not arrived. It was NOT a weather delay, just poor planning by AA

We left our sons tablet on the British Airways plane And we can’t get a hold of anyone to try to locate it. I have to call multiple numbers.

Boarding was as fast and efficient as possible. The flight crew were amazing and extremely friendly. We enjoyed our flight.

Very bed boarding, there was overbooked and make a lot of problems and noises

There was a problem in the luggage because there were not porters
