It was a terrible experience. We thought Hertz had the reputation for being the premier car rental agency. But several things happened during this rental that will make us never rent from them again. 1. The minivan we reserved was not even on-site when we arrived to pick it up even though I had called and talked to local rep the day before confirming when we would arrive. 2. The price we booked it at was not the price in their system and it took them calling an off-site manage to correct the rate. 3. Most importantly, the van we received 90 minutes after our designated pick-up time was not safe. When we started loading it with our items we noticed that the front passenger side tire was missing a lug nut. Upon further inspection we realized that the head had been sheared off meaning it had been stripped and if we had to change a tire we would not have been able to. We could not believe that their inspection at Hertz had failed to notice such an unsafe condition. We were unwilling to risk driving 900 miles on a tire that we did not know if it had been correctly mounted or what condition it was in. Finally, we had a add windshield wiper fluid to reservoir because it was completely empty. This was before noticing the tire situation. We promptly returned the van to Hertz, received many apologies from the representatives and took a smaller vehicle than we had originally wanted in an effort to get our trip underway. Poor service but more importantly being given an unsafe vehicle is unconscionable.

The rental agent was extremely rude and disrespectful, and almost unhelpful. She should not be customer facing if she intends to treat customers poorly.

Cons:

Transparency! The car I was promised was not what I got including the option. The car smelled of smoke and clearly the previous renter had animals. The car had dints and the appearance was very subpar. I was embarrassed to even drive it. It set in my garage the whole weekend. I even returned it on Sunday. I felt I was treated like a second class citizen and I all I got was sorry but it is what it is. The only satisfaction I got from this rental was returning it early!! I would never recommend Hertz to my friends and I would never rent from Hertz every again!!

Cons:

Had to wait an hour to pick it up. It wasn't ready. Then, when they finally brought it out, it was filthy on the outside. The tire pressures were all wrong and there were many dents and dings on the exterior, including a stone chip on the windshield.

Pros:

Staff was friendly to get an upgrade. All downhill from there!

Cons:

Upgraded car smelled like smoke. Chip in window. Windows were dirty and literally could not see out of rear view mirror. Had to clean manually. Gas was 3/4 filled!! Worst rental experience ever!!!

Stay was friendly and attentive.

Cons:

I needed to exchange our rental because a tire kept losing its tire pressure. A replacement vehicle was not available when I came in because they said there were none available. I could see other cars were ready, but perhaps, not the same size as our rental. The courtesy of allowing us to exchange for a different size would have made this experience better.

The employees at Enterprise never cease to impress me. Jackie, who helped me with the rental and another gentleman who helped me park my car were the best examples of professionalism and courtesy.

The ease of rental - getting in and out quickly.

Cons:

The cars are not cleaned well. The last two rentals from this location were very dirty. One of the rentals rear window was so dirty I had to clean it, hardly no visibility through the window.

The car was dinged up significantly and noisy for a hybrid. It did not handle well. In the online reservation process I thought I was buying full coverage from the rental company but it was fromi a third party...that was confusing and not what I wanted. I didn't appreciate that. I would have had to pay more for the rental car coverage. The onsite staff. was very nice and professional . The only good part of this experience. .

When I went to pick up the car at Hertz, I was told that the vehicle license fee and taxes were not included - and was charged an additional $6.74. This information should be fully disclosed at the time the reservation is made.
